Great moment Saturday morning getting a call from Tony Lucero about his Customikes built kustom Mopar.
Tony verified that it was “Customikes” then told me about his kustom car and how he got it. What a kool call!!
Tony and his wife Stacy bought it from the original owners that commissioned us, at Customikes to build their dream ride; a 1941 Plymouth coupe kustom.
We frenched , shaved, chopped, smoothed, and or all out kustomized most everything on it in the mid 90’s, including a special mixed PPG kustom kolor just to their liking. Yes, it was Ed and Jackie Kohler’s dreams that we built. After the kustomizing, paint and color-sand and buff was completed, it went home for assembly. I have not seen it for many years before getting the call from Tony asking for the color code.
Tony and Stacy have completed many mechanical upgrades and recently commissioned Robert at Millers Chop Shop to finish a full airbag installation too. Tony sent us pictures from the 4 shows that he and Stacy have gone to. He tells me the car is very well received and is a winner. For a ride that Customikes painted in the mid 90’s, it sure is looking good. I must say I’m pretty proud of what we accomplished. =D
After I got off the phone with Tony he sent us this message and the pictures that you see in this little feature:
“Good morning Mike,
Great talking with you this morning. I have attached a few pictures of the the Plymouth for you. Again, WONDERFUL build you did:-) Can’t thank you enough for taking the time to help me out! Hopefully we will be talking next week.
Thanks again,
Tony Lucero”
Now I have to see if I can dig up the file from back then to help Tony and his shop fix a couple of minor chips/ boo-boo’s =D Would love to get an opportunity to see it in person after all these years !! Maybe we can get Tony convinced to enter it into the Grand National Roadster show?! After reviewing the pictures, I think she qualifies for the main floor. What do you think?=D
Tony. Thank you sooooo much for reaching out!! Here’s a link to the GNRS application. Better get on it now before they fill up !! =D

“Mike,
Great to see the story on the car. I have attached a few more photos that my wife Stacy and I thought would make it more “us”. I would like to thank a few guys, like Robert @ Millers Chop Shop in Reno, for the fabrication needed as he put the air bag system and 4-link underneath. And Pinstriper Josh from Millers Chop Shop for the “chrome” looking pinstripe/airbrush that really broke up the paint scheme. I had not seen this before, and I REALLY put some trust in him that it would work! He knocked it out of the park. This ALL combined with the original build from Customikes, and we LOVE OUR MOPAR. Hope everyone else enjoys as well.
Added pinstriping:
Pinstriped / airbrushed “chrome” strip:
On board air tank hidden between truck wall and back seat…..can not see at all:

My wife Stacy & I are having fun and enjoying the new friends!!:
Thanks again
