Dave Wilson. My visionary customer and kustom kulture friend, choose full size, stylized and flush mounted kustom fender skirts for his wicked 1940 Chevy kustom koupe among many other awesome kustom touches =D
A little background:
Have been working a ton of hours on Dave Wilsons rad 40 Chevy Coupe that we are turning into a Westergaard inspired kustom. It drove into our facility as a 90’s street rod with a few update needs and a kustomizing overhaul. unfortunately we encountered a multitude (of relatively normal for this age ride) surprises.
So to make the story short we are now doing full airbag TCI suspension swap front and rear, upgrade to 700/r4, new floor (including multiple new crossmember), rockers (inner, outer, quarter bottom inner, outer, a-pillar inner, outer, inner and reinforcements) relocating gas tank (including shaving the glued in gas door) and modifying the rear floor to accept it and the new rear suspension to allow the appropriate “altitude adjustments”.
This is just the beginning before we get to do the fun kustomizing stuff like Packard grille, swoopy integrated running boards fenders and hood sides, ripple bumpers shaved/ frenched everything etc etc . Oh all mechanical systems will either be replaced with new or rebuilt. The only really untouched items is the great running small block Chevy =)
Either way, yesterday I needed to pound some metal instead of working on rust/ structural/ suspension/ mechanical repairs,.. So I straightened out the blasted and primer powder coated fenders and started on the flush mounted kustom skirt build. Here’s the first video of many more skirt videos to come in this blog =D
