Car Show to benefit their 105 year old School House
Aug 28, 2016
Founded in 1879, Port Costa is a awesome little town, hidden in between Crocket and Martinez in the San Francisco Bay Area. The town is only about one half square mile and has long been a destination for SF Bay motorcyclists and bicyclists out on a ride. The main “Drag” sits right on the banks of the Carquinez Strait, has only a few main buildings, but is a great destination for lunch if you’re out on a Sunday drive.
The road has a lot of twist and turns to get there and is barely wide enough to have a lane in each direction, but the destination is worth the journey. The town is a throwback to another time. The Warehouse Cafe at the end of Canyon Lake Drive is a must see! I won’t give too much away, but take a foto with the polar bear! If you’re lucky and catch them open, there is a little antique “Stuff” shop inside in back. It’s always one of my favorite spots to browse when I’m down that way.
The residents of Port Costa put on a very well organized car show with all proceeds benefitting the restoration of their 105 year old school house. Parking at the show was easy with the help of the local Fire Department. It was a breeze to get in and get back out, which for me makes it that much more enjoyable. This show in the past has been every other year, but has grown in popularity and thus they have started to do it annually. The show packs a lot of punch with its limited space. With good food and great cars it’s worth a drive on out to check out and maybe grab some lunch. I absolutely recommend it. – Johnny
